Gaming
I started out in gaming when I was very young… I remember playing asteroids ( or something similar ) when I was about 3, now that was a fun game. I have always like playing many different styles of game, from RTS to FPS. My mother always liked Warcraft, so I have played that from it came out really… And I still like to play it every now and then as the series is such a great one ( and I do not mean World of Warcraft ).
Often I could be found playing games on the computer when I was much younger ( This is still true today actually ) as I loved being able to go into another world and just play around. My favourite games of my younger years ( and they still would rate highly today ) would include; Warcraft ( I and II ), Duke Nukem 3D, Lemmings, The Incredible Machine. Even though these are all PC games, I did have a long period of not really playing as much PC as I did console games.
My console gaming started when my parents got my brother and I a Nintendo 64 for Christmas… One of the first games we had for that was F1 World Grand Prix and I used to play that all the time ( I think it’s what got me interested in Motor Racing ). I used to play the N64 all the time, it was great fun, and often I would pwn everyone at it ( except Super Smash Bros., my brother always beat me at that ).
My focus of gaming soon moved toward the Playstation 2, where I started playing RPG, Racing and FPS games. The games that I remember spending the most time playing on the PS2 would have to be the Grand Theft Auto series and the Grand Turismo series. These games were so much fun, and had hours of game play in them ( unlike most PC single players these days ).
The game that made me switch back to PC gaming is Counter-Strike: Source, it was recommended to me by a friend at school. Once I started playing this I couldn’t stop ( well at least for a while ). I started racking up some huge play time on CS:S, at one stage it was 80 hours every 2 weeks… which was getting quite excessive, seeing as I was doing this during normal school weeks. After a while of playing almost only CS:S, I decided to start playing other big games, this was the time that The Orange Box came out. I started playing Team Fortress 2 a lot, with some buddies I had found from CS:S.
This was fun for a while, but it started to impact my school work a little bit, so I somehow cut out gaming for a while ( mainly because it was the end of year 11 and beginning of year 12 ). I was still gaming but not nearly as much as I used to… I had cut back to about 20 hours every 2 weeks. About this time is when I was given a copy of Call of Duty 4 ( a friend got a free CD-Key and I was the lucky one to get it ).
Recently I have gotten back into gaming, with my main game being CoD4 and some CS:S thrown in there as well. Even though I had spent a lot of time away from CS:S, I was still able to play like my old self… Which I think comes from playing so much during my early years.
These are of course not all the games that I have played but instead are just the ones that I think have made my life what it is today.
